Driver communications
SMS Consent
Transportation providers use TrueMile to send operational SMS messages to drivers. Before enrolling a driver, the provider must explain the SMS program, obtain the driver’s explicit verbal consent, and record that consent.
The transportation provider is the business sending the messages. TrueMile is the platform the provider uses to manage those communications.
What messages drivers may receive
- Load coordination and assignment details
- Pickup and delivery updates
- Appointment information and schedule changes
- Status requests and confirmations
- Support related to transportation assignments
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help, or contact info@truemile.ai.
Verbal consent script
The provider’s representative must read the following script to the driver before enrollment, replacing the bracketed details with the actual names and mobile number.
Provider representative
“Hello, this is [Representative name] with [Transportation provider name]. We use TrueMile to send SMS messages about your transportation assignments to [Driver mobile number]. These messages may include load coordination, pickup and delivery updates, appointment information, status requests, and support.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out or HELP for help. You can also get help by emailing info@truemile.ai. Consent is optional.
You can review the Terms of Service at truemile.ai/terms and the Privacy Policy at truemile.ai/privacy.
Do you agree to receive these SMS messages from [Transportation provider name] through TrueMile at [Driver mobile number]? Please explicitly say ‘Yes’ if you consent.”
Required driver response: “Yes.”
The representative must wait for the driver to explicitly say “Yes”. Providing a phone number, silence, or an unclear response does not count as consent.
Record consent before enrollment
Providers must obtain and record consent before submitting the driver’s phone number to TrueMile for SMS enrollment. The provider must keep a consent record that includes:
- The driver’s name and mobile number
- The transportation provider’s name and the representative who obtained consent
- The date and time of consent and how it was obtained, such as by phone or in person
- The script and disclosures read to the driver
- The driver’s explicit “Yes” response
The provider must store this record securely in its records system and make it available to TrueMile upon request to verify consent.
Drivers who do not consent are not enrolled in SMS communications. SMS consent is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving transportation assignments or services.
